The Year in Review

Dear Readers,

As we close another year, we reflect on our shared journey and this significant milestone: the publication of our 30th issue in 2024 and the start of our third year as your trusted local news source.  We are deeply grateful for your loyal support and remain committed to earning the trust of those who are just discovering us.

In an era where misinformation abounds and opinions often cloud facts, we stand firm in our commitment to transparency.  Trust, especially in today’s media landscape, begins with clarity and openness.  Our mission has always been to bridge the gap in local news, serving as a reliable resource for all residents in our village.

Over the past two years, our local government has undergone notable changes—a new mayor, a village manager, and three new trustees.  We’ve covered these developments closely, as well as key issues such as flooding, ethics violations by elected officials, the Hunter Tier Lot development proposal, and the library’s financial challenges.  We've also demystified the village budget, helping residents understand how tax dollars are allocated, and provided comprehensive coverage of every Board of Trustees meeting.

But our community is more than governance and controversy—it’s a vibrant tapestry of stories worth celebrating.  We've shined a spotlight on the vital work of village committees, highlighted the contributions of change-makers of all ages, and celebrated the efforts of nonprofits and volunteers.  We've showcased local businesses, explored our dining scene, and honored the lives of residents who have passed, ensuring their legacies are remembered.

Looking ahead, we are eager to deepen our engagement with the issues that matter most to you.  Your insights and feedback will continue to shape our coverage as we strive to represent every voice in our community.

We wish all our neighbors a peaceful and healthy holiday season.  Thank you for allowing us to be part of your lives.

Warm regards,

The Staff of The Mamaroneck Observer
