Everyone at The Mamaroneck Observer joins the community in mourning the loss of Dan Sarnoff and we send our condolences to his family, friends and coworkers. He was an exemplary employee and all around great guy who was always willing to help. Those of us who worked with him directly appreciate what a great loss his passing is for the Village.
Here is the Village’s official statement:
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing on May 23rd of Daniel J. Sarnoff, Deputy Village Manager of the Village of Mamaroneck. Hired in January 2010 as the Assistant Village Manager, Daniel was promoted to Deputy Village Manager in December 2022. During times of transition in Village government, he also served as interim village manager.
Throughout all his 14 years of service, Daniel served the Village with devotion, professionalism, and kindness.
Prior to joining the Village of Mamaroneck, Daniel had nine years of experience in local municipal government working in the Village of Scarsdale. He was a resident of North Salem, N.Y., and held a bachelor’s degree in political science and a master’s degree in public administration from SUNY Brockport.
“Daniel was an honest, patient, witty, extremely knowledgeable, individual,” said Village of Mamaroneck Mayor Sharon Torres. “He was highly respected by Mayors, Trustees, and colleagues as well as residents alike. He will be greatly missed.”
Flags in the Village will be flown at half-staff in honor of Dan.
As more information becomes available, the Village will share it with the community. Stay tuned to www.villageofmamaroneck.org for more information.
