Recent Obituaries

Remo Corsi, of Mamaroneck, passed away December 8, 2024, at age 92.  He was born January 4, 1932, in Capistrano, Provence de L’Aquila, Italy, on January 4, 1932, to Costantino & Teresa Corsi.  Remo was a talented craftsman, a fine cabinet maker and carpenter who worked for Haggerty Millwork for many years.  Remo was a past member of the Alessandro Manzoni Lodge, and he enjoyed hunting.  He is now reunited in Heaven with his beloved wife, the late, Maria Corsi.  Remo is survived by his loving daughters, Teresa Jones (Mark) and Livia Villani (Gary Cunningham), cherished grandchildren, Kaitlin Jones, and Christopher Jones (Sarah), and great granddaughter, Harper Grace.  He is also the dear brother of Giovanni Corsi (Maria). 


Joan Frances Tooker Costa, 82, of Wake Forest, North Carolina, was peacefully called home to be with her Lord and Savior Christ Jesus, on November 29, 2024, surrounded by her loved ones.  She was born on July 16, 1942 at Misericordia Hospital in Manhattan, New York.  She was the daughter of Earl and Edith Hedin Tooker.  She grew up in Bellerose, Queens, East Northport, Long Island, then Mamaroneck, New York.  After graduating from Mamaroneck High School in June 1960, Joan worked for Sealectro in Mamaroneck, then for General Foods Corporation in White Plains, New York from 1965-68, and 1977-1988.  At GFC she initially worked as a secretary, then was eventually promoted to manager of the word processing unit of the desserts division.


She met Joseph Costa in 1962, and they married on September 3, 1967 at Holy Trinity Church in Mamaroneck, NY.  She lived in the first 50 years of her life in New York, then moved Arizona, Florida, and settled last in North Carolina.  She was a homemaker, an avid bowler, who bowled on several leagues, and skier, tennis player, she loved to quilt and do handwork and was a wonderful cook baker.  She loved and cherished her family, and she enjoyed spending time with her kids and grandchildren.  She was a strong woman in Christ who was guided by her Christian faith.  She was generous and kind woman who was loved by all who knew her.  Joan is survived by a sister Holly Tooker of Manhattan, a daughter Debbie Costa of Wake Forest, whom she lived with, a son Jeff Costa and his life-partner Josh Pugh, grandchildren Taylor and wife Kirsten Breeding, Rachel, Logan, Ethan and Madison Breeding, and great grandson Waylon Breeding, nieces Sheryl Costa of Lake Worth, Florida, Dawn and Jenny Heithaus of Tucson, Arizona, and nephew/Godson, Eric Heithaus and wife Amy of Santa Fe, New Mexico.  She was predeceased by husband Joe in 2016 and son Gregory in 1988, her siblings Lynn in 1978 & Mel Tooker in 2013, and Judy Heithaus in 2014.
