As the Board of Trustees (BOT) prepared to begin a search for a new Village Manager, the former Village Manager had some words of advice. In a March 8th email to the BOT and department heads Jerry Barberio advised the BOT to “find a manager who will be loyal to your causes…” further explaining that “Qualifications mean nothing. Loyalty is everything!” See HERE.
At the March 11th meeting, the BOT approved a contract with GovHR, an Illinois-based provider of public management consulting services, to search for the next Manager. See HERE for their detailed proposal. GovHR outlines a phased approach with a position assessment in Phase I that will include discussions with stakeholders and community forums in order to understand community and organizational needs. Recruitment begins after the completion of Phase I.
The base cost of the contract will be $24,500 and GovHR states that the average time from contract to final candidate is between 90 and 120 days. There are optional add-ons at an additional cost. The contract also includes an 18 month guarantee so that if the new hire leaves within that time frame, GovHR will conduct a second search at no cost to the Village.
